Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Davido is set to make his musical return with the release of his first single of 2024, titled “Awuke“. The track features a collaboration with YG Marley, the grandson of reggae legend Bob Marley, blending two powerful musical lineages into one highly anticipated release.
Following the success of his fourth studio album, Timeless, which dropped in March 2023, Davido has been active in various collaborations, including remixes like “Twe Twe” with Kizz Daniel and “Ogechi” with Boypee, Hyce, and Brown Joel. However, “Awuke” marks the first time in nearly a year that Davido is releasing his own solo track.
“Awuke” is described as an upbeat Amapiano track, signaling a genre shift for Davido despite the reggae heritage of his collaborator, YG Marley. Fans are eagerly awaiting this fusion of Amapiano and Marley’s legacy, which promises to be a unique sonic experience.
