Lauren Akosia is celebrating a new milestone in her music journey after receiving nominations at the 2026 Ghana Music Awards UK and the Ghana Music Awards USA. The actress, singer and DJ continues to expand her profile internationally, combining her experience in television with her growing presence in electronic music and Afro-house.
The London-born performer, recognised for her role in BBC One’s Mr Loverman, is competing for UK-Based New Artiste of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards UK. She has also received a nomination for Best International Act at the Ghana Music Awards USA, giving her recognition across both award platforms.
The nominations arrive following the momentum surrounding her collaborative single “Let It Go.” Akosia, who trained at Mountview, has been building her music career through recording, self-produced material and live DJ performances, developing a creative identity that extends beyond her work as an actress.
Her musical style brings together deep electronic breakbeats and South African Afro-house rhythms, supported by layered vocals and a focus on atmosphere. The combination reflects her varied creative background and her approach to connecting music, performance and storytelling.
Akosia has also released “It’s Time,” a standalone electronic anthem carrying a message of motivation and empowerment. Driven by dynamic production and rich vocal arrangements, the track offers another glimpse into her evolving sound and artistic ambitions.
Moving between acting and music, Akosia is building a career that crosses creative disciplines and international audiences. Her dual nominations recognise this continued progress as she works to establish a stronger presence within the global electronic music scene.
Fans now have a limited window to support her in the UK category. Voting for the 2026 Ghana Music Awards UK closes on Tuesday, October 20, at 11:59 p.m. BST, with Akosia nominated for UK-Based New Artiste of the Year.
