Editorial Policy

At Afrobeats Mag, our mission is to provide trustworthy, insightful, and engaging coverage of Afrobeats music and culture. To maintain credibility with our readers, artists, and industry partners, we adhere to a strict Editorial Policy.

Fact-Checking

Accuracy is at the heart of our work.

  • All published content—articles, reviews, interviews, and features—goes through a fact-checking process before release.
  • We verify artist names, song/album titles, release dates, tour schedules, chart data, and quotes with reliable sources such as press releases, official artist/label communications, streaming platforms, and reputable industry databases.
  • Opinions and critical perspectives are clearly distinguished from factual information.

AI & Generative Tool Policy

In accordance with our commitment to original cultural journalism, Afrobeats Mag maintains a Human-First Editorial Policy.

  • Zero-AI Content: We do not publish articles, reviews, or news stories generated entirely by AI.
  • Assisted Research: While our team may use digital tools for data gathering or brainstorming, all final drafts are written, verified, and voiced by human editors.
  • Disclosure: If any imagery or secondary data in a report is AI-assisted, a clear disclosure label will be placed within that specific article.

Bylines Policy

We sometimes do not permit our journalists and correspondents to add their names as bylines or authors of articles. Some of these articles will be published under Editorial Team to allow them to work and express themselves freely. However, contributors’ names shall be used as bylines.

We value transparency with our audience.

  • Sponsored content, advertorials, or brand partnerships will always be clearly labeled as such.
  • Editorial coverage, news, reviews, or features cannot be bought, and our writers retain full independence in their opinions.
  • While we may collaborate with artists, labels, or brands, these partnerships do not influence our editorial judgment or the content we produce.
