Cameroonian Afro-fusion artist Nzoundi Bell 1er is paying tribute to mothers everywhere with his latest single, ‘Luv U Mom’, a personal dedication inspired by maternal love, sacrifice and the important role mothers play in their children’s lives.
Built around a message of gratitude, the song reflects on the care and sacrifices that often go unrecognised. Nzoundi draws from his own experiences and feelings about motherhood, turning them into lyrics that came together naturally during the writing process. Rather than waiting for access to professional recording facilities, he wrote and recorded the track using the resources available to him, giving the release a distinctly personal beginning.
For the emerging artist, ‘Luv U Mom’ is more than a new addition to his catalogue. It marks the beginning of a fresh chapter in his musical journey, with hopes of taking its message beyond Cameroon to listeners across Africa and around the world.
Although Nzoundi Bell 1er has only recently begun pursuing music as a serious career, his relationship with songwriting and recording stretches back to 2014. Over the years, he has gradually developed his craft, building a collection of songs shaped by personal experiences, faith and family.
One of his earliest releases, ‘Ne pleure pas dad’, was written as a message of encouragement to his father while he was unwell. The song reflected an early tendency to draw inspiration from the people closest to him, using music to communicate feelings that might otherwise be difficult to express.
His earlier work also leaned towards gospel and R&B, with songs including ‘J’ai besoin de ta grâce Seigneur’, ‘It’s my time’ and ‘Yahweh merci’. These releases helped establish the foundations of his musical identity, while reflecting the spiritual influences present in his early songwriting.
Family support has remained an important part of his development. His older brother, Cyrille, has consistently encouraged him to continue pursuing music and hopes to see him become the first member of their family to establish a recognised career in the industry.
After spending an extended period in China, Nzoundi now feels ready to give his music greater attention and reach a wider audience. Support from fellow artists Lockchou and RomyAmpayeur has also contributed to his renewed push, as he looks towards bringing together the different experiences and musical influences he has gathered over the years.
