Nigerian artist AGADA is set to release his new single “Veuve Clicquot” on August 18, 2026, bringing together Afrobeats, Afro R&B, and Hip-Hop on a polished record about ambition, growth, and celebrating how far life can take you.
Featuring Nigerian rapper Psycho YP, “Veuve Clicquot” carries a story that stretches back more than fourteen years. The idea first emerged during a spontaneous freestyle session on Rhythm 93.7 FM in Lagos, where the late presenter Phoenix invited AGADA to perform over an instrumental. What began as an improvised moment on radio would eventually evolve into a fully realised record years later.
While the title references one of the world’s best-known champagne brands, the song is less about luxury than what the drink represents. For AGADA, it serves as a symbol of achievement, confidence, progress, and the satisfaction of reaching milestones after years of work.
Musically, “Veuve Clicquot” brings together smooth Afrobeats percussion, melodic textures, hip-hop influences, and polished vocal arrangements. Psycho YP adds his own charismatic presence to the record, complementing AGADA’s delivery and giving the track another dimension.
The journey behind the recording is just as unconventional as the song’s origins. Despite its sophisticated, nightlife-ready sound, AGADA recorded the final vocals inside a closet at his home during the Christmas period in December 2025. The setting proved that the quality of a record is not necessarily determined by the surroundings in which it is created, but by the vision, creativity, and execution behind it.
Born Chike Agada, AGADA has developed a sound that draws from his Nigerian heritage while embracing contemporary African music. His musical identity moves comfortably between Afrobeats, R&B, Hip-Hop, soul, and other modern African influences, allowing him to create music that feels rooted while remaining forward-looking.
Music is also deeply embedded in AGADA’s family history. He is the son of Harry Mosco, the lead guitarist and vocalist of the influential Nigerian band The Funkies. Known for blending funk, rock, and African sounds, The Funkies helped shape an important era of Nigerian music, giving AGADA a rich musical heritage to draw from as he develops his own artistic identity.
Rather than simply following that legacy, AGADA has used it as a foundation for building his own path.
His journey has also included periods away from the spotlight. At a point when his career appeared ready for further acceleration, AGADA stepped away from the music industry for more than a year, using the time to regroup, rebuild, and reassess his direction.
That period eventually gave birth to “West Side,” a project shaped largely in isolation and created during long nights of reflection. The album became a statement of both resilience and duality, exploring the contrast between luxury and struggle while offering a deeper look into AGADA’s world.
“Veuve Clicquot” now arrives as another chapter in that story. More than fourteen years after its initial spark on Lagos radio, the record transforms an old freestyle idea into a contemporary celebration of progress.
