Global Afrobeats superstar Rema returns with his highly anticipated new single, “Tea,” marking his first solo release of 2026. Produced by acclaimed hitmaker Mustard, with additional production from Rema’s longtime collaborator London, the track is released through Mavin Global and arrives as the latest chapter in the Nigerian star’s rapidly expanding global run.
Built around a hypnotic, high-pitched chorus, heavy drums and an infectious rhythmic pulse, “Tea” finds Rema embracing a playful and confident energy. The song flips the metaphor “body like tea” into a celebratory ode to feminine beauty and curves, with Rema delivering the record with the effortless charisma and precision that have become hallmarks of his sound.
The result is a feel-good, summer-ready anthem that blends Rema’s distinctive Afropop sensibilities with Mustard’s hard-hitting production. Rather than overcomplicating its message, “Tea” leans into rhythm, repetition and personality, creating a track designed to linger long after the final beat.
The release follows a run of major global appearances and collaborations for Rema. Earlier this year, he featured on Don Toliver’s “Secondhand,” which peaked at No. 29 on the Billboard Hot 100. He also joined LISA and Anitta on “Goals,” the official FIFA World Cup 2026 collaboration, which was performed during the tournament’s opening ceremony in Los Angeles.
With “Tea,” Rema steps back into the spotlight on his own terms, following a period of high-profile collaborations that have continued to expand his reach beyond Afrobeats.
His influence has also extended into fashion. Earlier this year, Rema walked in Diesel’s Milan runway show, after being personally selected by creative director Glenn Martens, further strengthening his position as a global cultural figure whose influence stretches across music, fashion and youth culture.
“Tea” arrives during another significant period in Rema’s career, following the international success of his sophomore album “HEIS.” Released in 2024, the high-energy project saw Rema explore the roots and evolution of Afrobeats through a bold, percussive sound that earned widespread critical acclaim. Rolling Stone named it a strong contender for the best Afrobeats album of the year, while the project earned Rema his first GRAMMY nomination for Best Global Music Album.
The success of “HEIS” also fueled a major global touring run, including sold-out performances at venues such as Madison Square Garden, London’s O2 Arena, Paris’ Accor Arena and Okinawa Arena, alongside his appearance at Coachella.
Rema’s global rise began with his self-titled debut EP in 2019, followed by his acclaimed debut album “Rave & Roses.” The project became the first album by an African artist to surpass two billion streams on Spotify, while its breakout single “Calm Down” became one of the biggest Afrobeats records in global music history.
The Selena Gomez-assisted remix of “Calm Down” topped the Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart for a record-setting 58 weeks, reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, peaked at No. 3 on the UK Official Singles Chart and earned five-times RIAA Platinum certification. Rema later celebrated the song’s historic success with his first sold-out stadium show at London’s O2 Arena in 2023.
Now, with “Tea,” Rema begins another chapter of his 2026 campaign, bringing together global production, infectious Afropop energy and the unmistakable personality that has made him one of Africa’s most influential musical exports.
