Nigerian Afrobeats star Omah Lay has released the official music video for “Coping Mechanism,” his emotional collaboration with rising singer-songwriter Elmah from the recently dropped album Clarity of Mind.

The track, which serves as the only featured appearance on the 12-song project, dropped alongside the album on April 3, 2026. In the new visual, the two artists deliver a raw, intimate performance set in a dimly lit industrial space. Elmah, sporting striking blue hair and glasses, takes center stage with powerful, soul-stirring vocals, while Omah Lay adds his signature smooth delivery and emotional depth.

The song explores themes of empathy and emotional support. Elmah’s chorus captures the essence: “Smile for me, don’t be—don’t be sad / I can see it in your countenance, there’s something on your mind.” The lyrics speak directly to recognizing hidden pain in others and offering understanding as a form of healing.

Clarity of Mind marks Omah Lay’s long-awaited follow-up to his 2022 debut Boy Alone. The new album reflects a period of personal growth for the artist, who has spoken about stepping back to focus on self-care, family, and mental recalibration before returning with fresh material.

“Coping Mechanism” blends Afrobeats rhythms with soulful, introspective elements, fitting seamlessly into the album’s overall theme of clarity and resolution after emotional turbulence.

The video is now available on major platforms, giving listeners a deeper visual connection to one of the most talked-about moments from Clarity of Mind.
