Today, global Afrobeats powerhouses Wizkid and Asake unveiled their latest collaboration, “Jogodo,” a smooth and intoxicating new anthem that serves as the lead single from their forthcoming joint EP, REAL, Vol. 1. Effortlessly catchy and rich in soul, the track sets the tone for what is already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated collaborative projects between two of Nigeria’s biggest stars.
Swaggering yet soulful, “Jogodo” is driven by pulsing percussion and bold brass instrumentation, creating a groove that feels both celebratory and hypnotic. Rooted in Nigerian Pidgin, the lyrics play on the idea of “jogodo”—a state of intoxication or being under the influence—capturing the hazy, euphoric energy that runs through the record. Wizkid and Asake trade verses with ease, their unmistakable voices blending seamlessly in a natural, confident exchange.
“Working on this record with Asake came naturally,” Wizkid shared. “We speak the same musical language.”
Asake echoed the sentiment, adding, “When Wizkid and I collaborate, it feels special because it’s coming from a real place of friendship, mutual respect, and love for our culture.”
REAL, Vol. 1 arrives as a highly anticipated follow-up to the viral success of Wizkid and Asake’s GRAMMY-nominated hit “MMS.” “Jogodo” also marks Asake’s first release since making history as the first African artist to headline a Red Bull Symphonic performance in the United States. That landmark show, held at Brooklyn’s iconic Kings Theater, featured a surprise onstage appearance from Wizkid alongside Central Cee, Fridayy, Gunna, and Tiakola, further underlining the global reach of Asake’s movement.
Both Wizkid and Asake have played pivotal roles in pushing Afrobeats and African music into the global mainstream, dominating charts while shaping culture and conversation worldwide. Longtime friends and collaborators, the pair continue to champion one another’s artistry and proudly represent Nigeria and the African continent on the world stage.

About Wizkid

Wizkid, born Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, is a GRAMMY Award–winning singer and songwriter from Lagos, Nigeria. He began his musical journey at age 11 and rose to stardom with his debut album Superstar (2011), followed by Ayo (2014), which featured the global breakout hit “Ojuelegba.” The song’s international remix with Drake and Skepta propelled Wizkid onto the world stage, leading to his appearance on Drake’s 2016 smash hit “One Dance.”
In 2020, Wizkid released Made in Lagos, a landmark project that became the highest-charting Nigerian album in Billboard 200 history and the first African album to be RIAA-certified Gold in the U.S. Its hit single “Essence” (ft. Tems) became the first Nigerian song to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 and reach No. 1 on U.S. urban radio. Wizkid followed up with More Love, Less Ego (2022) and later Morayo, a deeply personal album dedicated to his late mother. With multiple sold-out O2 Arena shows, a historic Madison Square Garden performance, and continued global acclaim, Wizkid remains one of Africa’s most influential and celebrated music exports. Wizkid is also the first African Artist to amass 10 billion streams on Spotify.
