Nigerian Afro-fusion artist Dozi marks a new chapter in his musical journey with DOZAGE, a new EP released on September 30, 2026. Built around melody, emotion, and authentic African storytelling, the project captures an artist stepping into a period where ambition, experience, and self-belief come together.

The title captures the project’s central idea. DOZAGE represents Dozi’s time, his age, and his era, giving the EP the feeling of an artist recognising the moment he is in and embracing it fully. Across the project, he reflects on the experiences that have shaped him while looking ahead to what comes next.

Each song contributes to a larger story, moving through the highs and lows of chasing a dream, the complications of love, personal pain, and the determination required to keep moving forward. Rather than presenting a single perspective, Dozi allows different emotions and experiences to exist alongside one another.

For Dozi, music remains one of the most natural ways to express himself. His songwriting draws from personal experiences, pain, and a deep passion for his craft, giving DOZAGE an honest quality that allows listeners to connect with its themes.

Whether he is expressing love or reflecting on real-life experiences, Dozi approaches the project from a personal place. The result is music that feels relatable without losing the individual perspective that makes his story his own. Sonically, DOZAGE sits comfortably within the evolving Afro-fusion space, combining Afrobeats rhythms with melodic songwriting and elements of highlife. Rather than depending entirely on high-energy production, Dozi allows the music to breathe, creating space for the melodies and emotions to come through.

The project also features a collaboration with Brown Joel, whose contribution adds another dimension to the EP. Behind the scenes, production and writing contributions come from Sukaaa, Nelxn Ville and Slashbeats, helping shape the sound across the project.

The making of DOZAGE was spread across different periods and recording environments. Four songs were recorded at home, while the remaining material was completed in studios at different times and locations. Tracks including “Slow,” “Imagination” and “Monica” were recorded as early as 2025, showing how the project developed over time.

That extended creative process gives DOZAGE a sense of progression. The EP brings together songs created at different points in Dozi’s journey and places them within one larger narrative about growth, ambition, and experience.

The project builds on a run of earlier releases that have introduced different sides of Dozi’s artistry, including “Magic,” “Blood on the Street,” “Lie,” “Jabulani” and “Sidechick.” Those records helped establish the foundation for the sound and perspective he expands upon with DOZAGE.

On the new EP, those experiences become part of a bigger story. Pain becomes perspective, hard work becomes fuel, and uncertainty gradually turns into belief.

Dozi’s influences include Omah Lay, Rema, and Burna Boy, artists whose approaches to contemporary African music provide part of the wider musical context surrounding his own sound. Yet DOZAGE remains rooted in Dozi’s personal experiences and his own interpretation of Afro-fusion.

Ultimately, DOZAGE feels like a statement of arrival. Dozi is not simply waiting for his moment. He is recognising the period he is in and using his music to define it. Across the EP, love, ambition, pain, and perseverance come together to document an artist continuing to understand himself through music. For Dozi, this is his time, his age and his era.

With DOZAGE, he turns that idea into a body of work shaped by melody, emotion, and the experiences that have brought him to this point.
