Nigerian-born East London artist JBZ unveils his powerful new single “Connected (Time & God),” a spiritually driven Amapiano record that blends commercial polish with the raw, ancestral pulse of the genre. Fresh off early radio support from Capital XTRA and Westside FM, the track marks a defining moment in JBZ’s artistic journey—both musically and personally.
Built on warm log drums, hypnotic Sgidongo rhythms, and JBZ’s unmistakable vocal tone, Connected stands as more than a dancefloor-ready release. The song was first shared on JBZ’s YouTube channel on 15 November, a date that would soon carry profound meaning. On the same day, JBZ’s father—a respected reverend—sadly passed away, transforming the record into a deeply personal tribute anchored in faith, resilience, and divine timing.
At the heart of Connected is a message JBZ heard throughout his life from his father: “All you need is time and God.” That belief shapes the song’s emotional core, turning it into a reflection on spiritual grounding, purpose, and staying connected to God through life’s transitions.
The track is produced by Flyoo, a UK-based innovator known for bridging London’s underground sound with South Africa’s Amapiano movement. Together, JBZ and Flyoo tap into the rising Sgidongo sub-style—an emerging wave within Amapiano that Flyoo has been developing through close collaborations with South African producers. Several unreleased JBZ records from these sessions are already circulating online, gaining traction through viral snippets.
Since its release, Connected has rapidly taken on a life of its own. The song has sparked viral dance challenges on TikTok, spreading across South Africa and beyond. It has become a certified club favourite, receiving heavy rotation in South African venues, dominating Lagos nightlife, and inspiring a surge of choreography videos from dancers across Tanzania.
JBZ’s momentum has been building steadily. Last year marked a major global breakthrough, with performances across multiple countries and a standout impact in Nigeria, including a visit to Beat FM Lagos, where he connected directly with a fast-growing fanbase. With a catalogue of unreleased music ready to follow, Connected signals the start of a powerful new chapter.
Rooted in faith, culture, and forward-thinking sound, “Connected” positions JBZ not only as a rising force in Amapiano but as an artist using music to honor legacy, spirituality, and global connection.
