Ayra Starr is closing out summer 2025 in the boldest way possible. The Grammy-nominated, double MOBO Award-winning Afrobeats superstar has just dropped the official music video for her single “Hot Body,” and it’s a fiery statement of self-expression, confidence, and power.
Shot in Los Angeles by director Claire Bishara, the visual sees Ayra Starr commanding boats, beaches, and waterfront sets alongside a team of fierce dancers. The aesthetic gives a nod to the luxury and glamour of late ’90s and early 2000s R&B and hip-hop visuals, but this time the story flips. “Hot Body” isn’t about the male gaze—it’s about women reclaiming that energy for themselves, owning their shine, and setting the tone for what empowerment looks like in 2025.
The single itself—co-written with Deeno and produced by Ragee (the genius behind her global smash “Commas”) with additional touches from The Elements—blends hypnotic Afrobeats percussion with pulsing synth bass and Starr’s signature honey-soaked vocals. It’s already paying off: the track has become her sixth solo Top 5 hit on the UK’s Official Afrobeats Chart since its release via Mavin Records/Republic.
The video’s arrival caps off a whirlwind year for the 22-year-old star. From sold-out stadiums with Coldplay, to becoming the first Afrobeats artist on Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage, to unforgettable moments at the Met Gala and winning her first BET Award, Ayra Starr is cementing her status as one of the most important voices in global music today. With a VMA nomination on the horizon and a Global Citizen Festival performance lined up, “Hot Body” is the perfect exclamation point to her unstoppable run.
‘Hot Body’ is Ayra Starr at her most unapologetic—a celebration of confidence, sisterhood, and self-expression
